I’m not kidding when I say that I am literally eating this Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Hash as I write this post and recipe up to share with everyone!  It is so good, it’s downright addicting!  I mean it is 8:24am and neither of the kids are up so it’s the perfect time for me to write and eat breakfast. Once they are up and going, all ability to concentrate goes out the window and I tend to forget to feed myself as their needs take over.   But the real reason I’m shoveling this down my face other than it’s delicious?  I don’t want to share.

Okay, now I’m just kidding.  This recipe makes plenty enough for about 4 people and I’m not that stingy.  My 8-year-old, Jaxon, always complains when I make sweet potatoes.  Always.  Even if he’s tried a sweet potato recipe before and loved it, the very next time I make it, he complains all over again.  Never fails.  Except with this.

Maybe it’s the almost 50/50 sweet potato/bacon ratio? Maybe it’s the cinnamon and sweetness of the maple syrup?  Maybe it’s just the whole combination, but whatever it is, he loves it!  And yes, there is plenty left warming on the stove for him when he gets up.

Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Hash

Let’s get into it, shall we?   This recipe has a grand total of four ingredients!  The hardest part is trying to dice your sweet potatoes into evenly sized pieces so that they all cook at the same rate and you don’t end up with some mushy potato pieces and some hard ones.  I despise a hard potato!

I use a full pound of bacon for this recipe, but it’s likely that a piece or two is missing by the time it gets mixed back into the potatoes!  Oops!

Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Hash

Well, I just heard the pitter patter of little feet, which is really more like stomping, doors banging, and finally, now the baby’s crying!  But the recipe is written, my belly is full, and I’m off to start the day!  If you decide to try this Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Hash recipe be sure to let me know what you think!

Enjoy!

Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie with Protein and Greens

Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie

I recently posted a recipe for a Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie with Protein and Greens.  I guess you could say this Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie with Protein and Greens is the chocolate version, with fewer types of berries.  It’s still packed full of protein and super healthy greens, but in chocolate form, and who doesn’t love chocolate?

I’ve been craving all things fresh and healthy lately.  I think summer definitely has that effect on me!  Fresh berries are my absolute favorite and always, always, always have them in the fridge.  I’ve been drinking smoothies for breakfast quite often since I’ve discovered the brand ALOHA and their individual serving protein powders and Daily Greens packets (they have larger containers as well).  The individual packets make it so quick easy for me because  I am constantly juggling a baby on one arm, and everything else on the other.  Even when I’m short on time, I can still whip up a delicious, healthy breakfast in minutes and this Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie makes for a perfect start to my busy day!

For this Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie with Protein and Greens, I added ALOHA Chocolate Protein Powder to Dark Chocolate Almond Milk because the more chocolate the better, in my opinion.  ALOHA even has Chocolate Blend Daily Greens, so I used a packet of that as well to make sure this smoothie would be loaded benefits!  The raspberries added a fresh, sweet vibe to the mix!  It’s so delicious, you don’t even realize how healthy it is, except you feel good, and energized!  A perfect way to start the day, or even for an afternoon pick-me-up (yes, I need those often)!

Those are the ALOHA products I used to make this recipe.  If you are interested in trying ALOHA out for yourself, they do offer free trial smoothie kits (you do have to pay for the shipping) and you can get everything you need to make this Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie AND my Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie with Protein and Greens.  You’ll probably even get an extra packet of unflavored Daily Greens as well that you can sprinkle on food, or mix into just about anything else you want for a health and energy boost!  I really love that ALOHA lets you try before you buy…now I just need to get my hands on one of their chocolate bars – they look sooooo good – haha!

This Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie with Protein and Greens is the perfect way to start a bright summer morning!

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but for me, the start of summer always brings on the desire to eat more fresh, healthy foods…especially berries!   I am seriously counting the days until the Strawberry Festival at one of the local farms near us!  I recently discovered ALOHA brands protein powders and daily greens and was a little overly excited to try them to say the least!  I love a good smoothie and being able to add some extra health benefits sounded like a win-win to me.  I decided to add fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries to add some extra sweetness to this Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie I created.  I have to admit, it’s pretty darn delicious!

Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie

This smoothie couldn’t be easier to make!  ALOHA makes it even simpler by giving you the option of buying their protein powder and greens in individual serving packets as well.  I have been scared to death of trying a greens powder for so long, and had heard some awful things about the taste of wheat grass.  I thought I might want to sweeten it up for my own personal tastes a little and bought a bunch of berries to do just that.

Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie

You can mix the protein powder into the beverage of your choice, so I chose to use Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk to give my smoothie even more vanilla flavor (and we always have it on hand!).  I added about a Cup of the milk to my Ninja Blender cup, along with the ALOHA Vanilla Protein Powder and Mixed Berry Daily Greens and blended until it was super smooth.  I gave it a try and have to admit, while it wasn’t as sweet as I prefer, it actually still tasted pretty good as it was!  BUT!  I wanted a Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie, so I then threw in about a Cup of the berries as well.  More blending and perfection!  It turned out smooth and creamy with just the right amount of fresh berry sweetness!  I could drink this every morning, especially if I could sit out back on a sunny summer morning to enjoy it every time as well!

Triple Berry Vanilla Smoothie

I’ll definitely be grabbing some extra packets of ALOHA Protein Powders (they have chocolate too!!) and Daily Greens (again, there is a chocolate variety) so I can enjoy this Tripe Berry Vanilla Smoothie with Protein and Greens all summer.  And you better believe I’m going to turn those chocolate varieties into something just as tasty!
